Sunborn
Chausies was started back in 1990, when we TICA registered our F-1
Jungle
Cat/Domestic Shorthair girl Chicle of Sunbright, to be used in a Bengal
program. This was prior to Championship status, when out crosses
were plentiful in the Bengal breed. It didn't take long to see that
the Jungle Cat genetics were not going to bring to the plate anything substantial
for the emerging Bengal breed, being as the two breeds were opposite in
stated goals in looks, build, and overall type. We kept Chicle for
several years, but only bred her very lightly. Click

Chicle of Sunbright as a kitten in 1990.
None
of her offspring continued on in the Bengal Program, except for her one
daughter - Sunbright Asian Jungle Chic, and one fertile F-3 Bengal son
that Asian Jungle Chic had. This F-2 girl had two fertile F-2 brothers
and went on to produce key cornerstone fertile F-3 Chausie males, whose
influence is very strong in the newly emerging Chausie Breed.

The
Breed name Chausie was coined in 1995 - five years after we had first TICA
registered the F-1 Chicle as a Jungle Cat hybrid.
Currently,
all of our Chausie breeding stock traces to Chicle via her daughter Sunbright
Asian Jungle Chic. Asian Jungle Chic has recently been retired.
Now into the F-4 generation of TICA registered Chausies, we are accomplishing
Chausie - Chausie breedings regularly, and working slowly, and carefully
on breed development.

We
are dedicated to working the generations to SBT and the Goals of the TICA
Chausie Breed Group.
